The Norwegian Wind Ensemble (Det Norske Blåseensemble) is an orchestra, which prides itself on the high quality of its performances in an eclectic range of musical genres. Within this broad spectrum, the Norwegian Wind Ensemble focuses particularly on innovative approaches to the areas:

Early music:
As Norway’s oldest orchestra, The Norwegian Wind Ensemble has chosen to specialise in the recreation of historic performance techniques, focusing on the period from the renaissance up to and including the Vienna classical school. The combination of historically authentic and modern instruments gives the ensemble a unique sound and breathes new life into well-known works from this period.

Real-time music:
In recent years, The Norwegian Wind Ensemble has paved the way both nationally and internationally for new music with improvisation as the key element of expression.  Our real-time music is improvisation on classical terms, created in the moment, and can therefor never be repeated.

The candidate
We are looking for a soloistic and versatile flautist, who are curious about new tasks and finds our musical profile exciting. The successful candidate will enjoy working in an ambitious and well-humoured environment.

The job 
The Norwegian Wind Ensemble is seeking an experienced flautist to fill a full-time performing position with the ensemble. The successful candidate will participate in all our productions where required by the score. We alternate on all tasks in the flute section, but you will have the main responsibility for piccolo.

Flute:

• W.A.Mozart: Flute Concerto G major, KV 313, 1st movement with cadenza
• J.S.Bach: Partita a minor, BWV 1013, 1st and 3rd movement

Piccolo:

• W.A.Mozart: Flute Concerto D major, KV 314, 2nd movement without cadenza

Selection of the succesful candidate will be based on the outcome of the audition and an interview, Start date to be agreed.
